Meet Joanna.
Joanna began her military career in 1991 as a Crew Chief in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in the 171st Air Refueling Wing. She married Philip Goodwin in 1995. In January 1996, Joanna transferred to the Texas Air National Guard and was assigned as a Crew Chief in the Isochronal Phase Inspection Dock where she performed in depth aircraft inspections on C-130 aircraft.
Joanna was activated from 2003 to 2005 and became a 7- level journeyman mechanic; during that time and transferred to the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron as a Crew Chief. During Joanna’s enlisted career she has deployed to Germany
multiple times in support of OPERATION JOINT GUARD; Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, in support of OPERATIONS IRAQI AND ENDURING FREEDOM. Joanna was commissioned as an officer in April 2006. Joanna’s last, and most defining, deployment was to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and FREEDOMS SENTINAL, where she became a combat veteran.
She holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in School Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and a Licensed Practicing Counselor. She has worked in both outpatient and in-patient mental health settings as well as foster care and adoption. Joanna’s heart is for hurting people and families. She believes that through her experiences in theater and work in the mental health field, that she is in a unique position, a calling, to care for the needs of our nation’s heroes and their families. Operation True North has been formed to fulfill that call.
